Can I Skip August?

Sunday, August 1st, 2004 • 2 Comments on Can I Skip August?

I realize it’s only August 1 and there is an entire month to get through before it will be September, but I’m already getting the back-to-school bug.  Which, for someone who isn’t in school (but hopes to be by January), translates into: projects.  Writing projects, home improvement projects, collaborative projects, holiday projects that must be started soon if I have any hopes of finishing them by the holidays… my mind is going in a dozen different directions on what I want to do this fall.

I know I said I wasn’t really ready for autumn, but it’s my favorite season and I look forward to it now just as much as I did when I was in school.  It doesn’t matter if I’m in school or not, or how many years go between educational pursuits, my new year begins with September, not January.  January 1 may be the official beginning of my resolutions and goals, but September (late August, really) is when I get excited about starting new things.

So here it is, August—the dullest, hottest month of the year—and all I want to think about is autumn.
