Sickness

Two days ago I made the comment that I haven’t gotten sick since I left the library.  I attributed it to being away from the germ infested kids who frequent the children’s room.  In truth, that’s probably the main reason I’ve gone 4+ months without some sort of infectious illness.  However, the sickness fairy came to remedy that yesterday.  As the day progressed, I felt worse and worse and now I’m sick.  I think (hope) it’s only a cold.  Time will tell.  I actually feel a little bit better today, thanks to the restorative powers of rest, sleep and cold medicine (designed to help me rest and sleep).

I avoided getting a flu shot last year because I refused to play into all the hype about epidemics and pandemics and shortages of flu vaccines, etc.  I also managed to avoid getting the flu, so everything worked out just fine.  This year, with a trip to England in my near future, I’m thinking a flu shot might be a good idea.
