It snowed last night. It’s a mystery to me how it can be near 70 degrees one day and then snow the next, but that’s life in Virginia. You just never know what you’re going to get (or how you should dress). The snow melted, except for those shady areas where patches of white still linger, but it’s starting to warm up again and it won’t be long before it’s all melted away. Some winters I want snow, some winters I don’t. This winter, I’m happy for cool days and sunny skies.
There is something about watching snow fall that still gives me a little thrill. I’m sure it’s because I grew up in south Florida and didn’t see snow for the first time until I was eighteen. Now I’ve seen enough snow to know what a hassle it can be. I wish it away quickly, but I still love to watch it fall. Everything looks different through a snowy haze, covered in a white blanket. There’s a little bit of magic in snow, I think.
