All Around the Town

A few more pictures from London.  Statues and marble, oh my!

Old Man.jpg

This droll fellow stands guard in Hyde Park.  I just love how
stereotypically British he looks—as if nothing could make him laugh.

Hyde Park Maiden.jpg

This poor lady lives in Hyde Park, as well.  I believe she is waiting
for the cosmetic surgeon to arrive and give her a new nose.

Woman in Mourning.jpg

She sits quietly in solitary mourning on a memorial in Bath Abbey.
I stared at her for several minutes, mesmerized by her expression.

Tree on Bath Abbey.jpg

Another from Bath Abbey, taken from the outside.  This one
reminded me of Jae.  I meant to research the significance of the
tree(s), crown and what looks like some sort of religious head piece.

Westminster Bridge Lion.jpg

I love this picture, both for the angle it was taken and for the fact
that it proves London does occasionally have clear, sunny days!

Trafalgar Lion.jpg

Another lion, this one taken on a rainy day in Trafalgar Square.

Very cool shots. Gotta love stone, it’s built to last.

The Lady outside Bath Abbey is heartstopping and breathtaking.  Sadness just radiates from her.  Thanks for sharing that.  Beautiful.

Thanks, Ric!  I haven’t posted my picture of the Roman/Medieval wall yet, but it’s incredible to contemplate how long it’s been there (at least the part that is still there).

That marble woman at Bath Abbey stayed with me, too, Carter.  I think I may have taken a photo of the inscription on the memorial—if I can find it, I’ll post it.

Speaking of old… those lions from Trafalgar Square are made of the bronze from the melted down cannon of the Spanish fleet crippled and captured at the Battle of Trafalgar by Lord Nelson in 1805.
