Birthday Week, The Tradition Continues

Today’s birthday gifties included paperclips in the shape of insects from the Shannon/Jae duo (but mostly Shannon).  Now I can clip my research papers together and fly them to class instead of sitting in traffic!  The surprise gift was a month of tanning at my local salon, courtesy of Nick who has spent the past four summers berating me for exposing myself to “cancer rays.”  Heh.  He said, “You win,” but what I really think he meant was, “Damn, you’re pale.  Get some sun, even if it’s the fake, bad-for-you kind.”  In either case, I do win and I will have a lovely summer glow by the end of May…

The Birthday Fairy also brought me killer freakin’ cramps.  Yeah, I know, too much information, but you have to take what you get around here.

I’m not sure how it happened, but I managed to avoid leaving the house all day today (though I did spend some time outside lamenting my sad, neglected garden and contemplating all the empty pots on the deck that need bright, pretty flowers to brighten up this weekend’s festivities).  Not that I’m complaining, what with the price of gas and all, but I think I need to get out of the house tomorrow.  Maybe have lunch.  Go to the bookstore and write.  Buy flowers for the garden.  Get coffee.  Or… I could go tanning.  Heh.
