The Ebb and Flow of Island Life

I have attempted numerous times to upload pictures of my adventures.  Alas, civilization hasn’t fully come to the Virgin Islands, meaning there is no WiFi and the internet connection they do have is spotty.  When I’ve tried to upload pictures it turned into a muddled mess of error messages.  So I will bore you with pictures when I get home.

Today is Sunday and there isn’t a cruise ship in port.  To those of you on the mainland, that might not mean anything, but here on St. Thomas in means everything is closed.  It kind of reminds me of what it was like after Hurricane Isabel when there was no where to go and nothing to do… except, of course, I have a beach in my backyard.

It’s an interesting way of life, to follow the ebb and flow of cruise ships and know just how busy (or not) it’s going to be on any given day.  I’m not sure it’s a way of life I would want to get used to.  I did find a coffee shop in Charlotte Amalie yesterday and finally (after nearly a week) got my coffee fix.  I was a happy girl.  I enjoyed it so much, I’ll be doing it again tomorrow…

Today, though, is a beach day.  So I’m off to the beach!
