I have a to do list that is collecting dust, but I can’t seem to motivate myself today. Sundays are like that. All I want to do is read, watch television, nap, bake and make baby hats (I finally managed to make one that is newborn-size!).
Speaking of baking, I’m in awe of Jennifer. The girl has already made enough goodies to feed a small country while I’ve only baked three kinds of cookies and my kick ass brownies so far this season (not including the apple crumb pie and pecan pie I made for Thanksgiving). I’m pathetic. I still have a couple of weeks to redeem myself before baking gives way to reading, writing and studying again.
So far this holiday season, I’ve made oatmeal cinnamon raisin cookies, my all-time favorite chocolate chip cookies and Snickerdoodles, but I have hopes of making sugar cookies, peanut butter cookies, fudge, peanut clusters, more brownies and at least one cake (for Christmas). I ran out of all-purpose flour last night and substituted cake flour in the Snickerdoodles. Though I followed the conversion on the cake flour box, the cookies came out decidedly cake-like, which isn’t quite the texture I’m looking for in Snickerdoodles. Perhaps I can send Jay out to get more flour… because I seriously doubt I’m going to get out of my pajamas today.
At some point, though, I really need to get up and do something. I have presents to wrap so they can be mailed tomorrow and holiday cards that I haven’t even started yet (I know, I know…) and I really would like to bake something yummy tonight. Oh, but it’s so tempting to sit in bed and read blogs and magazines by the sparkly lights of my little Christmas tree… ahh… I love Sundays in December.
When I do finally get up I’ll be making chili for dinner and then, really, I’m going to do some work. But first… maybe a short nap, hmm?
