Let It Be

I am in such a Zen-like place these days, not even an idiot in a BMW who thinks he owns the road or the mystery that is the military health care system can irritate me for long.  I’ve been at peace with the world since the beginning of the year.  Yes, I know, it’s only been eighteen days… but to be in a consistent state of contentment when all is not right in the (or my) world, is something.  I’d think someone was slipping me some happy drugs if I didn’t know better (do I know better?).  In any case… it is good to be at peace.

I have been listening to the Beatles a lot lately.  I keep replaying “Let It Be” over and over.  Religious undertones aside—and I don’t have a problem with the spiritual message, but it’s not what attracts me to the song—it makes me happy, it makes me cry, it makes me feel calm and tranquil and… at peace.  I think “Let It Be” is my motto for 2007.

Let it Be

The Beatles (Lennon/McCartney)

When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

And when the broken hearted people
Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be. Yeah
There will be an answer, let it be.

And when the night is cloudy,
There is still a light that shines on me,
Shine on until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be,
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.
