I am almost finished with graduate school. All of my assignments are completed, the two take home final exams and one last paper are printed and ready to be delivered on Wednesday and Thursday.
I am almost 40 years old. One week. One short week and I will be that strange, scary, magical age I have been contemplating for thirty years.
I am almost ready to go to London. I’m chipping away at the To Do list and, in five days, I will be on a plane.
I have almost accepted the fact of how much is going to change this summer: Jay goes back to work, and then on to Rhode Island for several months before returning to sea duty. Though I’m not even close to being ready to deal with the long months of living alone, I’m almost prepared to actually think about what it will be like to have to do it again.
I am almost at the next chapter in my life, whatever that chapter will bring. There are still a lot of question marks on the page about when and how and what… but all will be revealed in the coming months. Almost, anyway.
This week is an exciting time for me, or it should be. It still doesn’t feel… quite real. So many good things are happening at once, so many interesting possibilities are on the horizon. There are also uncertainties and insecurities and fears to face, but not yet. Almost, but not yet.
I’m almost ready. I’m almost there.
