Jay will be visiting Valparaiso, Chile soon and I have been doing some research. (Hi, Jay!) It is winter there, though it’s hard not to think of Chile as lush, green and humid.  Chile… the homeland of one of my favorite poets, Pablo Neruda.  Chile… home to Chilean wine!

Oh, how I wish I could go to Chile!  Maybe next year…

If You Forget Me

I want you to know
one thing.

You know how this is:
if I look
at the crystal moon, at the red branch
of the slow autumn at my window,
if I touch
near the fire
the impalpable ash
or the wrinkled body of the log,
everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists,
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats
that sail
toward those isles of yours that wait for me.

Well, now,
if little by little you stop loving me
I shall stop loving you little by little.

If suddenly
you forget me
do not look for me,
for I shall already have forgotten you.

If you think it long and mad,
the wind of banners
that passes through my life,
and you decide
to leave me at the shore
of the heart where I have roots,
remember
that on that day,
at that hour,
I shall lift my arms
and my roots will set off
to seek another land.

But
if each day,
each hour,
you feel that you are destined for me
with implacable sweetness,
if each day a flower
climbs up to your lips to seek me,
ah my love, ah my own,
in me all that fire is repeated,
in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten,
my love feeds on your love, beloved,
and as long as you live it will be in your arms
without leaving mine.

~Pablo Neruda

I think tonight I will curl up with Pablo Neruda’s poetry (and a glass of Chilean wine?) and dream of Chile…

I’m anxiously waiting my contributor copy of Dirty Girls: Erotica for Women to arrive.  I hear it’s hot-- and with the lineup Rachel Kramer Bussel has put together, I don’t doubt it.  Some of my favorite dirty girls are represented-- Shanna Germain, Alison Tyler, Gwen Masters, Teresa Noelle Roberts… just to name a few!

I accidentally came across this Twitter comment by Viviane to my editor mentioning my story, “Beautiful Creature.” That made me smile-- and immediately start following Viviane!  I love Twitter

Viviane is kicking off a “virtual book tour” for Dirty Girls at her blog Sex Carnival, so drop by and read an excerpt of Rachel’s story ”Icy Hot.”

Rachel has also set up a Dirty Girls blog, featuring interviews, upcoming readings and other fun stuff!  I only wish I could go to one of the readings in New York or San Francisco.

It’s going to get dirty around here this spring-- bring on the April showers!
