I got the chance to meet the lovely and talented Molly Crabapple yesterday at Relative Theory Records when she came to town for Dr. Sketchy’s 2007 Book and Propoganda Tour.  Molly is the founder of Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School, described as “what happens when art meets cabaret.” Obviously, Molly is based in New York where the idea of combining old-fashioned burlesque and a funky art class isn’t at all bizarre, but I’m glad she ventured south where such things are far less common.  I’ve admired her quirky, naughty, Victorian-style illustrations for a couple of years and now I’m a proud owner of an autographed copy of Dr. Sketchy’s Official Rainy Day Colouring Book

Molly is touring with comedian (and Wonder Woman underwear model!) Jennifer Dziura.  Jen is a Virginia Beach native and now does stand-up comedy in New York.  It’s a Thelma-and-Louise-style roadtrip with a New York edge (and no driving over cliffs, hopefully).  Check Molly and Jen’s respective web pages for more tour dates and performances.
