Hallelujah(AppropriatelyEnough)

I had fun guest blogging for Love is an Exploding Cigar.  We talked about books, buying books and coffee.  What else?  Of course, I know not everyone reads and not everyone buys books for gifts.  If you’re one of those people, you might want to check out Sommer’s new Dirty Monday feature-- she might be able to recommend a nice gift for someone near and dear to your heart. wink Hee.

So now I’m back home again to talk about… well, I don’t know what to talk about.  I spent a good chunk of the afternoon and evening at Starbucks, beating a story into submission-- or maybe beating a submission into a story?-- in between responding to reader comments at Cigars and answering student e-mails.  The story is now finished, spell-checked, grammar-checked and traveling along the intertubes to my editor.  Hallelujah! My brain is fried, but I feel pretty good about this story.  It’s always a nice feeling to send one of my darlings out into the world.  (An even better feeling is when my darlings are accepted with open arms.)

Tomorrow I submit final grades for the semester (can I get another hallelujah?) and I can concentrate on revising my syllabus for next semester (which begins January 12, according to the sigs posted on campus).  I am so very ready for this break-- though it’s really only a break from teaching.  There will be no break from writing.

Hopefully before the end of the year I will post my own version of Alison’s year in books blog post.  She, like some of my other erotica writing peers, is pretty awe-inspiring in her productiveness (prolificness isn’t a word, is it?)-- but she’s also an editor.  Mind-boggling, really.  Still, I enjoy making lists and I like seeing where I’ve been so I can figure out where I’m going (I’m a big geographically challenged, as many of you know), so it’ll be nice to line up my accomplishments and list my goals.  I’m looking forward to it.

But right now, I’m looking forward to vegging on the couch and taking a little break from thinking.

Wow, Kristina!  Busy enough for you? wink BTW, what subject/classes do you teach?  After having kids and having had more time with kids in various settings, I’ve come to realize that I’m not really cut out to be a teacher--patience and me don’t seem to be very well acquainted ;p

Very fun to see you at Cigars today!
