It’s almost time for National Novel Writing Month again. Yikes. How did it get to be almost November? I had pretty much decided to skip NaNoWriMo again this year because the end result is so often 50,000+ words that I never revisit, but I have almost changed my mind. First of all, I have three projects in the development stage and NaNoWriMo would go a long way to getting at least one, possibly two, of them going. I could even finish one entirely, since it’s another novella. I could conceivably finish a 25,000 word novella and have a third of a new manuscript written in a month. It makes NaNoWriMo 2007 very tempting, indeed.
The problem with NaNoWriMo has always been the timing. November is the busiest month of the year for me and will be even moreso this year. Jay will be home for Veteran’s Day weekend, Sheri will be here for ten days at Thanksgiving, Jay will be here for part of that time, as well, I have the two College Composition classes to teach/grade and, of course, the holidays are coming up. Those are all just excuses, though. Writing is my job (one of them, at least, and the most important one, at that), but it is a constant struggle not to push it aside in favor of other work (or play). NaNoWriMo forces discipline, even if it’s still self-imposed discipline (there are no NaNoWriMo police, as far as I know).
(Can you see I’m talking myself into this as I write about it?)
Along with NaNoWriMo, November is apparently National Blog Posting Month. I had not heard of NaBloPoMo before reading Jennifer’s blog and it is an intriguing possibility. Also, it’s less of a challenge than writing 50,000 words in 30 days since I seem to be averaging almost a post a day now. What’s a few more words per day in the great scheme of things, right?
So, NaNoWriMo? NaBloPoMo? NaNoWriMo and NaBloPoMo?

Wow, that is a super busy month!
I’m looking forward to a post a day
(You signed up for both, didn’t you...)
By the way, totally off topic
When I see the book covers on the right for example, “Whip Me” and then I press the little *submit* button below, it gives me a bit of thrill.
I need to get out more.
You crack me up, Jennifer.
Yes, I “submitted” to both NaNoWriMo and NaBloPoMo, and I blame YOU.
We’ll see how it goes…
