Scattered

Tuesday,March04,2008

I’m supposed to be working before I head to screenwriting class, but I’m feeling sleepy and scattered.  So much work to do… and the temptation is strong to skip class and either work on various deadlines or go home and take a nap.  I will go to class, though.  I try to be good.  I don’t always succeed, however.

Thankfully, next week is spring break for both the classes I teach and for screenwriting.  It’ll be nice to do some catching up (hopefully!) and work on lectures notes, assignments and my languishing script.  A bunch of new calls for submissions have shown up in the past week and, again, the temptation is strong to work on those shorter projects instead of the longer, more complicated ones.  I will try to balance the two-- the short projects rejuvenate me and are usually pure fun, the longer projects are the ones that inspire me for the future.  There is room for both.

The summer should be interesting.  It’s shaping up to be a writing summer with few distractions.  That makes me smile.
