Tomorrow,IWork

I can’t quite see the light at the end of the tunnel, but I believe in the light.  That must mean something, right?

It’s been an uneven weekend of unproductive laziness ::cough:: three hour nap on Saturday ::cough:: punctuated by a frenzy of work (guilt induced, but still).  The good news is, one way or another, my deadlines will be met by the end of the week.  The bad news is, one way or another, the work must get done by the end of the week.  So, while I wish I had been more productive this weekend, I know I will get it all done even if I have to stay up all night to do it.  Hopefully it won’t come to that.

In a rather self-indulgent (and undeserved) moment of spontaneity, I treated myself to a movie this afternoon.  King of California is the kind of “quest” movie I love-- quirky, character-driven and with a couple of layers of context.  It wasn’t as good as Little Miss Sunshine, but I enjoyed it a lot.  Seeing Michael Douglas in this role made me want to see Wonder Boys again.

I’ve never gone to a movie by myself before today.  I suppose that’s odd, for someone who can happily spend time alone, but movies and dining out are two social activities I prefer to do with other people.  That goes for watching movies at home, too, which is why I have so many movies TiVo’d that I haven’t yet watched.  For me, half the fun of watching a movie is being able to talk about it afterward.  Still, I’m glad I indulged myself today despite my vow to withhold the fun until the work is finished.  Sometimes it’s nice to goof off a little.  That’s one of the perks of being an adult, right?
